API Documentation

The Refute API gives your team programmatic access to authenticity scoring. Submit a story URL or account handle and receive a structured JSON response with a score, confidence band, flagged signals, and network summary.

API access is available on the Growth and Enterprise plans. To request credentials, contact the team or start from your account dashboard after subscribing.

Authentication

All requests require a bearer token passed in the Authorization header.

Endpoints

Score a story URL

POST /score/url

Submit an article or story URL for authenticity analysis. Returns a score (0-100), confidence band, flagged signal list, and amplifying account network summary.

POST /score/account

Submit a social account handle for behavioural analysis. Returns a score, posting cadence flags, network overlap indicators, and historical activity summary.

Rate limits

Rate limits are applied per API key and vary by plan. Growth plan: 2,000 requests per day. Enterprise plan: custom limits available on request. Contact [email protected] for enterprise rate limit configuration.
